Ame (aircraft maintenance engineering) license categories| Modules needed for certification exam

  How many modules needed for the AME certification exam

 AME License is given by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). 

Eligibility criteria for Ame(aircraft maintenance engineering ) license:

 

1. Applicants should not be below 21 years of age.

2. They must have passed the 10+2 examination with Mathematics and physics or any other equivalent qualification acceptable to DGCA. 

3. They should have passed all module examination conducted by DGCA.

4. They shall have passed the necessary oral-cum-practical examination. 

5. They shall produce a medical certificate from an MBBS doctor (he/she must not have any physical disability or color blindness.)

6. They must possess a minimum practical experience of four years in the field of aircraft maintenance engineering in any approved airline, MRO, etc.

  

     Then you are qualified to give a Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Certificate (BAMEC) or type rating examination.

 

Eligibility criteria for BAMEC (BASIC AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER'S CERTIFICATE):

 

1. The applicant’s minimum age must be not less than 20 years.

2. Must pass 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics.

3. Must pass all module examinations conducted by DGCA.

4. Minimum of three years of practical aeronautical engineering experience in any approved airline or MRO.

 5. Must be medically fit.



The categories of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering license are:

 A: - Maintenance Certifying Mechanic

B1:- Maintenance Certifying Technician (Mechanical)

B2:- Maintenance Certifying Technician (Avionics)

C: - Base Maintenance Certifying Engineer




The B1 license is sub-divided into sub-categories as below: 

B1.1:- Aeroplanes Turbine-Engine

B1.2:- Aeroplanes Piston-Engines

B1.3:- Helicopters Turbine-Engine

B1.4:- Helicopters Piston-Engines

 

And the B2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineering license mostly covers the following areas:

 • Instrument Systems

 • Automatic Pilot Systems (fixed and rotary wing), including Auto-throttle and Auto-land Systems

 • Radio Communication,

 • Navigation and Radar Systems

 • Electrical Power Generation and Distribution to Avionic Systems
